w[imac]si, Icel. v[imac]ss, Sw. vis, Dan. viis, Goth. weis;
akin to wit, v. i. See {Wit}, v., and cf. {Righteous},
{Wisdom}.]

1. Having knowledge; knowing; enlightened; of extensive
information; erudite; learned.
